They have things that the big places don't have.
As a small town hardware store located in a shopping plaza, I was not expecting much. Little did I know that this store is a gem of the home improvement industry. They are able to capture most seasonal home improvement needs by constantly changing out a portion of their inventory. Whenever I have had a question about a project, there has been someone there with the knowledge to answer it. As an extra bonus, they are dog friendly! My pup loves going to the hardware store, and the employees are always ready to give him a treat.

True Value is a good store. The service is better than many big box hardware stores. So it's great if you need some help or advice. It's also much easier to find stuff and to get in and out quickly if you're in the middle of a project and need some extra supplies. The downside is that the selection is not quite as good and prices are a little higher than the larger stores.
